Dindi Palkhi Yatra by Warkaris | June 26, 2023

Loving Sai Ram and greetings from Prasanthi Nilayam. The annual pilgrimage to Prasanthi from Dharmavaram by foot (about 35 km) by more than 1500 Warkaris commenced this morning at Shirdi Sai Temple. Continuing the tradition that was initiated about 35 years ago in the presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, these devotees from the districts of Maharashtra and Goa fill the streets with Divine happiness by singing bhajans, telling stories and engaging in some traditional activities. Sri RJ Rathnakar (Managing Trustee) along with other dignitaries welcomed these pilgrims who are of mixed age groups. After offering their obeisances at the main shrine of Shirdi Sai, the ‘palkhi’ (chariot) in which Lord Vithoba & consort Rakhumai were beautifully decorated was taken in a procession amidst ‘Pundalik Varde Hari Vitthal’ chants & bhajans. Observing the fundamental rituals, they participated in their traditional Nama Sankeerthana program. It’s interesting to note that many of these devotees are coming to Prasanthi for the first time to experience the Dindi Palkhi Yatra.
